The day was drear.
The sky was gray.
It felt as if it was pressing in from all sides.
Would the sun shine again?
It seemed like the rain fell continuously.
And it wasn’t just that way outside, but also it felt like that inside. But amidst the bleak day, a ray of light appeared.
A friend with a cold drink.
A message from a friend to just say they cared.
Flowers from a loved one.
Time spent with a friend.
The wind played a tune through the wind chimes.
Dreary days are not easy. We all experience dreary days, both inside and out.
So what is your cure for dreary days? I’ve listed some of mine below.
- Light a candle
- Wrap in a blanket
- Read a good book
- Drink a cup of hot tea or coffee
- Cook comfort food (chili, soup)
- Soak in a bubble bath
- Sew a new dress
- Listen to upbeat music
- Write in a journal
